They’re seeking a dynamic Controls Engineer to join their team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing systems. Do you have exceptional PLC skills in Siemens programming logic? As a Controls Engineer, you will be at the forefront of their commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.

Location: Roxboro, NC (On-site)
**Day Shift 8-5 pm with some on-call responsibility rotating call plan

Qualifications

Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university is required. Alternatively, equivalent documented experience as a Controls Engineer is also considered.

Technical Expertise: Solid skills in Siemens 7 PLC programming logic a must. Min. 2-3 years Experience working with continuous line mfg., creative, adaptive, and proficient multitaskers, leveraging extensive knowledge in electronics, engineering, and programming.

Communication Skills: Strong internal and external communication skills are essential, facilitating effective
collaboration with team members, other departments, and external partners.

Computer Proficiency: Proficient computer skills, demonstrating the ability to use various software platforms for documentation and reporting purposes. This proficiency is crucial for managing and analyzing data related to control engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

  1. Technical Proficiency: The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical background with expertise in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), automation, and desktop networks. This includes the ability to analyze and maintain company systems using design drawings, electrical schematics, and panel layouts.
  2. Problem-Solving Skills: Qualified individuals should demonstrate excellent analytical and methodical skills to troubleshoot issues related to hardware, software, and processes. This involves the capacity to reverse engineer current systems, perform failure recovery, and implement improvements.
  3. Project Management: The candidate should be adept at managing multiple automation projects, from reviewing project documentation to developing sequences of operations. Effective communication, coordination, and the ability to direct co-workers and contractors are essential aspects of this qualification.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: The role requires the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and external parties. Effective communication skills are crucial for interacting with individuals at all levels in the organization, and the candidate should be capable of training and supporting newer team members.
  5. Process Improvement: An understanding of plant processes and the ability to design and implement improvements are vital qualifications. This includes working with Process Engineers to enhance control solutions and contribute to the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.
  6. Adaptability and After-Hours Support: The candidate should be adaptable and willing to provide support, including after-hours support, for downtime events impacting production. This flexibility is crucial in maintaining the functionality of control systems.
  7. Quality and Safety Focus: A commitment to supporting the company’s quality and safety initiatives is essential. This involves incorporating quality and safety considerations into the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems.
  8. Qualification in Controls Engineering: Ideally, candidates should have a relevant educational background or certification in controls engineering to demonstrate a foundational understanding of the field.
